Question,

How do I get one of the iso images to boot? I have downloaded both livecd-basic-1.4_rc1-r2.iso and livecd-ut2003-i586-1.4.1.iso from ibiblio.org, have burned them both to CD, and I am unable to boot from either of them.

The system that has burned the images is an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 512MB of RAM, 80GB of HDD, and a DVD-ROM and a Samsung CD-RW. It is running SuSE v8.0 with the latest patches and security fixes. I burned the images using cdrecord with the following command line:

cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -data livecd-ut2003-i586-1.4.1.iso
cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -data livecd-basic-1.4_rc1-r2.iso

The system that is attempting to boot from the CDs is an Intergraph TDZ 2000 GL1. It is a Pentium II 300MHz with 256MB of RAM, a 4GB SCSI-UW HDD on an Adaptec 2940UW controller. The CD-ROM is an IDE CD-ROM, OEM from Intergraph. The system currently has loaded FreeBSD v4.6.

I am wanting to install and test Gentoo Linux, and evaluate it for my workstation build, but currently I am unable to boot the CDs I have burned on any of my systems (The AMD which burned the CDs, the Intergraph, an HP Kayak XA-s, an IBM Netfinity 3000, or a Compaq Deskpro 4000). I have verified that there is data written to both CDs, and I am able to mount them under any OS that I run (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, SuSE Linux, Solaris 7 & 8 ).

Can anyone tell me what might be going on here?

Thanks,
Wolverine
